Guest Coach: Greg Owens
While yet another Pride month is celebrated within Canada, there are still many workplaces across the country that are having their first conversations around an employee “coming out”. 2SLGBTQ+ workers can be asked to endure a wide spectrum of antics, from the innocently curious to the downright dehumanizing, and sometimes both simultaneously. Understanding workplace dynamics and specific experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ people can help you provide the most appropriate form of dispute resolution.
This workshop aims to provide attendees with the skills to assess the nature of conflicts involving sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression while in the workplace context. It will help participants identify the ways in which 2SLGBTQ+ people experience discrimination while at work, the avenues for complaints of this nature to be brought forward and the appropriate forum for the dispute to be addressed. The role play will allow for participants to apply these focused areas of learning in a real world example of how sexual orientation and gender impact conflicts within a workplace.
